This is the king of Thundera we see briefly in a flashback of the episode “Journey To The Tower Of Omens.”
This isn’t Leo, nor is it Claudus. This is a completely different cat.
I’ve dubbed him Rithlio, for Richard The Lionheart, because that’s who his face kind of reminds me of. And I reference him in chapter 13.
I’m slowly building an in-story legend around Rithlio, (also known as The Azhure Ghost or The Ghost In Azhure,) and he ties in a lot to the overall plotline of all my Thundercats fanfics, because I give Lion-O a very strong connection to this ancestor of his, and he inherits more from Rithlio than anyone could dream. (What is this, you ask? You’ll just have to RAFO, Read And Find Out.)
I am seriously considering starting an independent mini-fic for Rithlio himself, to enrich his backstory and legend, provided of course, my readers are interested.
That being said, please love on this guy. He needs it.
meet Buddha. Reformed thief, a close friend and apprentice to Panthro. Buddha’s personal mission is to restore the Hall of Omens and track down,save and collect all items he believes should call the Hall of Omens their home. Buddha is a rare maltese tiger. A tiger clan long thought to have been extinct.Shunned by the Tiger clan for being “imperfect”, Buddha’s family exiled him from the tiger clans. He was on his own at a young age. He wandered 3rd earth getting by with little food or money by doing whatever he had to. Stealing and fighting became common practice for Buddha. Like the Tigers, pride is not something Buddha lacks. This pride at times makes him think that he is uncatchable and unbeatable. Believing he was uncatchable and “3rd earth’s self proclaimed greatest thief” while in the Thunderian Marketplace, Buddha saw an item he wanted, and was going to take. Unfortunately for him, the owner of the item that caught his eye was a warrior named Panthro and the item was a pair of nunchucks. Panthro caught Buddha and instead of turning him into Thunderian authorities he took him under his wing and took him as an apprentice. Panthro could see the skill within Buddha and with the proper guidance knew he could make a “real cat” out of him.
Buddha is a skilled street fighter. He has also trained under Panthro in martial arts and weapons combat. As a gift, Panthro presented Buddha with sectional fighting staff, with ends similar to his own nunchucks, that Buddha once tried to steal.
Buddha is also a mechanic. Spending so much time traveling third earth he has seen quite a few things and technology being one of them. He learned a thing or two and continued to learn in secret while in Thundera. He has his own style very much different from Panthro’s where as Panthro builds for power, Buddha builds for SPEED. Panthro calls it his youth showing but Buddha believes “he just knows how to have fun”.
Upon hearing the news of Panthro and Grune misssion to search for the Book of Omens, Buddha was happy for his friend but knew he once again was going to be alone. The only family he had was going to be gone. This is when Buddha began going to the Hall of Omens and beginning his quest for knowledge. He went to the Hall of Omens everyday,learning about the History of Thundera and the Thundercats. There was always something new to learn in the Hall of Omens and Buddha was determined to learn it all. The more he knew the more he was able to incorporate to his skills and his designs. He learned from Panthro to constantly be learning. That is what he did.
On the day Thundera fell to the Lizards, Buddha was in the Hall of Omens. He fought lizard after lizard that was ransacking the museum taking any and all items they could. Buddha fought his was through reaching the room that held the Treasure of Thundera. It was all gone. All except for one item that was in the hands of a lizard.. the Key of Thundera. Buddha fought through the group of lizards as the walls and ceiling of the hall began to fall. He had made his way to the lizard that had the key as the room shook. Sensing there was only a matter of seconds before the room came down the lizard threw the key to the other side of the room. With only seconds left the whole ceiling caved in, instead of running or the door to save his own life, Buddha ran for the Key of Thundera. He was able to grab it and hold it in his arms as the ceiling fell covering him with tons of stone.
Buddha quickly learned the Sword of Omens is not the only magical Thunderian item because the Key of Thundera saved his life. Buddha’s decision to save a piece of Thunderian history in fact saved his life. As he held the key in his arms it released and energy field that acted as a shield protecting both Buddha and the key from harm.
Buddha currently is on a mission to restore the Hall of Omens and search all of third earth for the Thunderian items that were lost and most importantly the Treasure of Thundera, and return them to the walls of the Hall of Omens where they truly belong. The current location of the Key of Thundera is unknown. Only Buddha knows of its whereabouts, keeping it safe under his watch.
